Things are a bit crazy right now, Natalie and Nate are in town and there are cousins hanging around, I have work, dog sitting, and friend stuff. I'm soaking up my time with my favorite sister and have lots of fun bloggable things going on...for now I thought I'd post this old picture of two of my very favorites!!

Uncle Day!

Today is Aunt and Uncle Day!

Here is a recentish picture of my two Yuncles (you know since grown ups hardly ever make it on my blog)! They were the best yuncles I could have had growing up...well and today! One gave me a job! Thanks! And the other one is always challenging me. Both of them are so good at sharing their kids with me!

Guy, dishes, and no pancakes?

The other day I went to breakfast at the Diner in Norman, they open at 6:30 and I believe we were the first people there. I was pretty excited because there is something fun about getting up early just to go eat breakfast! We seated ourselves in the old booths that lined the walls and ordered some breakfast! Yummy!
I noticed on the wall that Guy had eaten there (ironically I noticed just a second after I said aloud, Guy needs to come here for Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives! I know if he came with the show though because the last restaurant that I was at that he was at said that it was on the show. But, I do know he left this all the same! In May? How fun!
Sadly, I did not have the (blueberry) pancakes which are supposed to be the best part about The Diner, so I will for sure head back at some point to give them a try! The homefries were so delish! My only complaint was that when we started to pay, the waitress said, we don't take cards...what?!? Who carries cash? Not me! Does that mean we have to dishes?
We did not have to do dishes...but I did have to sit there and wait all alone until my friend returned with CASH to pay the nice people, and that was a little tough for my doesn't like to be alone self. I wonder if that counts as eating alone in a restaurant with wait staff from my 101 list? (which I promise I will be updating VERY soon!) oh well it probably doesn't!

Really?

Sometimes in Oklahoma, people come and steal the concrete from your driveway, and move it to Texas. It makes a better story when said people are billionaires. Seriously, Texas has some real envy issues....

But, then again people in Oklahoma buy houses just because of what is written in the cement. Weird.

Dear T. Boone Pickens,

Next time please ask before you steal your name from me. Now, I will have to sue you.

Sincerely,

The man who bought a house for the concrete

Blog Hop!

Three things you don't know about me is kind of hard....if you came here through the BLOG HOP you probably know nothing about me, if you are one of my two readers you probably know EVERYTHING about me. So, here goes....
1. This morning I brushed my teeth in the shower for the first time ever (I've heard people talk about it, and I thought I'd give it a try) I did not like it! I had to get out of the shower to put my toothbrush back because I didn't have any where to put it in the shower. (which dripped water everywhere) I brushed them again when I got out because it just didn't feel like a good job. It did not save me ANY time. It took more time. From now on I think I'll stick to sink brushing!
2. I love my little dog, sometimes I make her wear outfits when we walk around, sometimes I carry her in a purse, I have contemplated getting a (baby) sling to wear her in when she gets tired on a long walk...but I HATE it when people refer to me as her mommy.

3.my mom named me ASHLEE with two Es and I have always loved it. (you know except for not having anything personalized, and always telling people they spelled my name wrong) It made me a little bit different from all the rest. (that happens when you have 5 OTHER Ashley's in a classroom with you and your teacher makes an Ashley table because she thinks it's funny) HOWEVER, I hate seeing other names that end in two E's it just doesn't look right to me. I wonder why their parent's did that to them.

This week, on TUESDAY, 7/14/09, the theme is THREE THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ME.

really?

You know in movies when they have that character that never moved past that one great event that happened in high school? We all laugh at the character but do people like that really exist?

They do in Oklahoma.

Class of 1987? Is this a joke?
That was 22 years ago!

Sometimes I wonder about this Great State; birds in the parking lot, memorial cars, and high school window decals after 22 years (at least they really are the gorillas).

Central Market

Central Market is one of my Favorite places in Texas! I wish they'd open something like it in Oklahoma! I spend way too much money there when I'm in Dallas because there are so many great things that I can't get anywhere else.

Last time I was there I found Crumpets so yummy! I have searched high and low for Crumpets in Oklahoma and online (I even looked when I was in Florida because I was going to bring them back on the plane!). But, it looks like it's either Dallas or England!

steel cut oats

For awhile I've been reading about Steel Cut Oats "better than oatmeal" and they are supposed to be super healthy and I'm all about (sometimes) eating foods that are closest to their raw form.

It's super easy and nice to have breakfast ready when you wake up, 1 cup of oats, 5 cups of water, some vanilla and let it cook while you sleep. Yummy!
Okay the truth is I don't know if I'd call it "better than oatmeal, because it is not better than Quaker Oats Peaches and Cream Oatmeal that comes in a box! Ha! But, it is for sure healthier!

Blog Hop!

It was super hard for me to pick a favorite picture! I decided to go with my favorite football picture from last season, since I can hardly wait for this season to start! This is at the Big XII Championship game in Kansas City, it was SO cold! But, so much fun!!

This week, on TUESDAY, 7/7/09, the theme is A FAVORITE PHOTOGRAPH. Post up one of your favorite photographs and a caption that tells the audience about it.

chicken?

Recently, I tried a new restaurant. They had a very large cage in the parking lot.....

I couldn't help but wonder what my *chicken* really was....

My Favorite....

6 year old boy!

For two years I spent almost every single day with this sweet kid. And, last month I saw him for the first time in over a year!

He is one of the most amazing children I have ever met. He plays the piano like you wouldn't believe, he's gotten even better. His little 4yo self used to play video games with me and then stop and run to the piano to play what we had just heard (he did it with regular songs too). AMAZING!

He just finished kindergarten and he can read anything. He can add and subtract (no big deal) he can multiply and divide and is currently working on long division. AMAZING! We were playing Monopoly (you know the regular kind) and he landed on a Utility and asked me what the rent was, I explained to him that it was four times whatever was on the dice, you multiply the number on the dice by 4 and that's how much and he said without missing a beat "so I owe you $16". AMAZING!

But, not only is he musically gifted and WAY too smart of a kindergartner he's athletic. We were playing catch with a baseball (after he complimented my football throwing skills! bless his little heart I am sure that I will never hear that again, and CERTAINLY not from a male!) let me tell you that he threw that baseball so hard we had to implement the bounce once rule (it had to bounce once before I could catch it) because I thought he'd broken my finger. It turns out he is quite the little baseball player, he skipped t-ball all together and went straight to pitching machine (they even put him on the mound a few times) he only struck out 3 times and was at bat like 41 times? (they assure me that is AMAZING) and he was the only kid to catch a fly ball for an out in the WHOLE season and he was playing with kids two years older than him! He is Amazing!

He is the sweetest little guy and I miss being able to hang out with him, while I was there we did all the things we used to love to do and he started planning for when I came back over. Sadly, it won't be anytime in the near future. He is one amazing kid and I am excited to see who he becomes!
