Fruits and Veggie Challenge

Last week Weight Watchers started a new challenge 4 Weeks to 5 Servings, the goal being to make sure that we get our 5 servings of fruit and veggies a day.

I really don't struggle with eating fruits and veggies as long as I make a conscious effort to do it. But, who isn't up for fun challenge?

I missed week one because I was in Colorado (eating lots of fruits and veggies) so this week I am combining weeks one and two.

Week one the goal was go fill half your plate with fruits and veggies, week two the goal is to eat 3 different color vegetables every day

Every day I plan to document what I've eaten here it's in the side bar also!

That way I won't clutter my blog with lots of food pictures and can hopefully get caught up on some other blogging, like the pictures from our trip!!

The second 5k

Blake, Garrett, and I ran our second 5k together.

When we got to the starting line I wanted to leave.

I believe my exact words were

"I can't run in this race, these are real runners!!"

The boys told me I would be fine.

And I figured someone had to be last (thankfully it wasn't me!!)

It was hot!

And that might be an understatement.

Garrett won first place (in his age group)!

The trophy was not nearly as cool as the medal he got and I didn't show you from the last race.

But, still I was so proud of him!!!

He was proud because only one girl beat him...

Our next race is going to be in July.
We're heading down to Texas to run one down there.
I'm already excited!!
Turns out I kind of like this running thing!

The first 5k

Two weeks?!?

I can't believe I haven't written one word on my blog in two weeks!! I am so behind on so many things (on the blog my real life is amazingly caught up). I've been off having one adventure after another! So, there should be lots of fun posts coming up if I can stay on top of things.

Alright so here are the pictures from the 5k...

Blake and I before the race
Garrett missed the picture because he was in the port-a-potty.

Garrett and Blake getting ready to start.
I was further back..because I am not fast!

Getting started.

Blake finishing!

Almost to the end!! The shadow next to me is Kate. I met Kate and her friend during the race. When we started they were going about the pace I was going maybe a tad bit faster, and I thought okay if I can finish near them I did a good job. At some point they got pretty far ahead of me and I picked some new people to finish with. Then I figured out my time and thought okay I can do this, I can get the unspoken goal in my head. And I really sped up. I finally caught up with Kate and told them what I had said at the beginning. It really motivated them to keep pushing and in turn motivated me to stay up with them.

Kate asked my name and if I ever started to fall behind she would say "Come on Ashlee, catch up". She was exactly what I needed.

When Garrett saw me running with my new friend he said "oh dear God she has made a friend" and then later to me he said "you are the only person I know that would make a friend during the middle of a race". But, I needed her. She really pushed me at the end.

My face is pretty red and splotchy, which means I was working hard!! ha!

About to cross the finish line.
The people next to me look happy and not tired. I'm glad I didn't notice that day. I might have hated them! But I'm sure they look happy because we over took them at the end! :)

I really debated posting these pictures, because they are NOT flattering! But, for the same reason I decided to post my (slow) time on my side bar they are up. Someday we can look back on these and realize how far I came!

Here goes round 2!

Alright I did it.

I rejoined Weight Watchers.

I had been thinking about it for awhile but I did not have a good experience with the one closest to my house, and flying to Florida once a week just doesn't seem very reasonable (oh but how i wish it was!)

Last week I got a postcard from WW begging me to come back (I get them all the time), but this one was different, this one said if I wasn't 100% satisfied then I could have my money back. That was just the push I needed.

I made one major change this time. I'm going to the one in Norman. I spend a good majority of my time down there (and if things work out I will be down there full time soon). Yesterday, was my first meeting and so far I don't hate the people.

I loved, loved the people at the Florida meeting, it was seriously my favorite day of the week, but then I moved to Oklahoma and I did not enjoy going to the meetings or the people at them and at some point just stopped following the plan. And then just stopped going all together.

I really, really need the accountability of weighing somewhere other than my own bathroom once a week. I know it works. I lost almost 50lbs last time (thankfully I haven't gained all of it back) Hopefully I still don't hate these people at the end of the 4 weeks and WW can keep my money (and my extra pounds)!

I obviously wasn't thinking when I decided to start the week before Easter. There are sooo many Easter foods that are delish! But, since it's the beginning I'm really motivated, maybe it was a good move on my part.

Last month I lost 6.6 pounds, that is the same as...

9 Large Avacados
This many strawberries
Or this bike.
So, I think that's pretty good. I don't talk too much about my weight loss very often, but I'm getting to a point where I really need to be held accountable on a different level. So, there it is last months results. Stay tuned for next months!
