Date Night

So I have class on Monday and Tuesday nights which means I leave the house around 8am and don't get home until close to 11pm it makes for two very long days. By Wednesday I'm exhausted and all I want to do is sleep, Garrett on the other hand is eager to spend some time with me. Recently I've been coming home and taking a short nap (or doing something responsible like laundry or dishes) then we head out for a date!

We heard about this place (Pachinko Parlor) downtown that does sushi in a new way so we headed out to try it. The atmosphere was really fun and they have a ton of rolls that don't contain any fish at all! While I will eat sushi it is not my favorite (and if we're being honest I can only eat a few pieces before my gag reflex kicks it). It was perfect for us! Garrett can satisfy his craving for sushi and I can eat meat (that's been cooked!!) They only seafood in those rolls is the shrimp in the coconut shrimp roll!

After dinner we tried the Creme Brulee (because no matter how full the boy is he will not pass up some creme brulee). This one did not disappoint!

Then on the way out we saw that Sara Sara Cupcakes was next door (and it was open!!)

We had to get some to go! (Garrett picked two of the same, so boring!) The cupcakes are very dense (g says they are more like muffins) I thought they were super yummy!

I love this new trend we've started of spending some time doing something fun on a Wednesday it's way less hectic than going out on Friday or Saturday and helps the week move by so much faster!

(I've really got to get better at taking pictures of us instead of just the food we eat, you have no idea how many food pictures I have on my computer!)

Weekend Review!

This past weekend was everything I could ask for in a weekend, it was perfect!

Friday night Garrett and I got dressed up and headed to Whispering Pines bed and breakfast for dinner. If you are in the area make reservations and go tonight! It is that good! We were rushing out the door to not be late so we didn't get a picture of us before we left, and the atmosphere of the restaurant wasn't really picture taking friendly (there are only 9 tables). The food was delicious, the service was awesome, it was quiet and romantic, a little place nestled in the woods, it was just perfect. We were wishing we lived somewhere else so we could come back and stay at the B&B on game weekends, it is just precious! I cannot wait to go back.

Saturday was Game Day!  We spent the morning lounging around watching football, until it was time to head to Norman! And let me tell you it was my kinda game!! We won 52-0! I brought my camera to the game only to realize in the car there was no memory card in it! So sad! Garrett didn't have his phone so this is all we got

One lonely picture on my not so great phone :(

After the game we stopped at Van's Pig Stand for some yummy bbq! (something about a football game makes me want bbq)

Sunday we slept in and went to a new fun restaurant that we found (that I'll do a separate post on another day). Came home watched football and napped, perfect! (somewhere in there I found time to do a little bit of studying, and we both did a little bit of running). Then we went to a late movie Let Me In it was really, really good! (and I don't even like vampires!) It was supposed to be scary but the story was too good for it to be scary!

So, it was the perfect weekend. Yummy food! Football! Movies! Naps! Hanging out with my favorite!

The Road to Omaha - day 1

At the beginning of baseball season Garrett told me that if the Sooners made it to the College World Series we would go. So, I followed the boys all season in the hopes of getting to go on a Road Trip to watch some Sooner Sports (two of my very favorite things!!) After beating Virginia the number 1 team in the country, the Sooners (and Garrett and me) were headed to Omaha!!!

The drive to Nebraska (we actually stayed in Lincoln and only went that far the first day) was not so bad. It only took about 5.5 hours the perfect amount of time for me to get out all the stories I had saved up to tell Garrett. Don't worry he loves listening to me talk!

We stopped in a place called Newton and it smelled like poop. Literally like poop. I don't know how any one can live there. I sprayed gas all over myself at the pump and it was actually kind of refreshing to have to smell that.

The majority of the driving was through Kansas which is so flat it's crazy! (I almost said flat as a pancake but really a pancake is usually fluffy and Kansas is just flat!!)

I left Garrett in charge of car snacks...he brought tomatoes...but they were from the farmers market so good job G!

Garrett's new car has a free XM radio subscription for a few months, and my voice was getting tired so I decided to look for something to listen to. I found the CWS!!! Look how it puts the score on the screen! When I wanted to talk we could mute it and still see the score! So, fun!!

When we finally made it to Lincoln we asked for a restaurant recommendation and ended up at Misty's. It was a nice atmosphere with lots of Big XII (guess they be changing that soon). It wasn't the best food I've ever had, and it was pretty expensive....

But, they gave us a TON of food...we started with the crab cakes (no picture) that were so yummy!! Garrett ordered the burger, that was huge and got a ton of sweet potato fries...

I ordered the ribs and got TWO full racks!! I've never seen so many ribs, we took so much food back to the hotel room it was crazy!!

After dinner we headed back to the hotel, put our dreams of working out in the gym to bed and then we quickly followed...

Jimmy's Egg

I have a confession.

I'm not really a breakfast person. *gasp*

I know how very unAmerican of me.

I think eggs are gross.

I don't like syrup, which rules out pancakes, waffles, and french toast.

I don't like pie either.

I know. Go ahead kick me out of the country.

You should eat breakfast out with me sometime. I do not want eggs or pancakes. Try to find a breakfast that doesn't have those two things.

You can't.

Don't even get me started on Breakfast for Dinner. ick!

Now, having said all of that. Last Sunday I woke up and said I really wish we had eggs I want to make an omelet. Obviously I wasn't thinking about what eggs really are that day.

Yesterday in our search for a yummy breakfast place we decided on Jimmy's Egg in Moore.

I ordered an omelet. It was really good. It was huge. And full of stuff (which I love because it makes the egg less obvious)

But, I have to say that the highlight of my trip was Garrett's Sweet Potato Pancakes. Oh my yummy! I'm not the biggest Sweet Potato fan, I rather have a regular old white potato any day of the week. But, whoever thought they should turn a sweet potato into a pancake gets a High Five from me. They didn't need syrup! They were super moist. And so yummy!

If you're in Oklahoma I would try Jimmy's Egg. Plus look at the fun egg they have! too cute!

Where is your favorite place to eat breakfast?
