Bad Days...

Recently one of my favorite people (the friend who logs the most in person hours with me) said to me in a shocked voice "you have bad days?"

I laughed. And thought about a day last month when I thought my world was collapsing and I sat in a random parking lot and cried. I was really overwhelmed. Looking back on that bad day I could have avoided it, it was months in the making. But, I was overwhelmed and it got the best of me. It all ended up okay.

Yesterday I had a bad day.

My car stopped accelerating, on a busy road during rush hour. If you are keeping track (like my bank account is) that is two flat tires (four new tires) and a transmission problem in less than one month.

As I sat in a parking lot, thinking of how inconvenient this was, I started to feel really sad for myself. The thought of being without a car is HORRIBLE to me. I need my car. I need to be able to leave on my own accord. I thought of the Nebraska trip (that I have been excited about for a year) I will most likely have to cancel because I do not have the money to fix whatever is wrong with my car.

But, somehow, I remembered that even though it felt like everything was going wrong there were a few things to be thankful for.

1. My car wouldn't go over 20mph but this allowed me to know something was wrong and get into a parking lot before it stopped going forward completely.

2. The parking lot happened to be right next to a place that works on cars (just not what was wrong with mine)

3. It didn't happen on the hill a mile before.

4. It didn't happen on the highway while I was driving 80mph at midnight the night before.

5. I wasn't trying to get any where too important.

6. Grammy was back in town and could come get me out of the parking lot.

7. Gram has AAA and they would tow me for free!

8. I got home in time to watch The Biggest Loser

So, as I sit at work, feeling trapped without a car, waiting for the place to call me back and tell me how many millions of dollars it will cost to rebuild my transmission, calculating how I can still pull off Nebraska, wondering how I am going to house sit without a car. I am certain that it will work out. One way or another. This will not be the end of my world.

Maybe it wasn't such a bad day after all. Maybe it was just annoying day.

And just maybe I don't have bad days.

There is only ONE Oklahoma!

This is my very first show us your life and I am so excited! College Football is my very favorite!

Especially Sooner Football!

The Pride of Oklahoma is the first to take the field

After tapping the Cheer Like a Champion sign our boys run onto the field...

and meet on the middle OU for some...then to end the north end zone for some prayers.

With our fingers in the air we chant in unison OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU

while our Kicker (Matt) Kicks off...

Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium is one of my very favorite places in the world! Especially at night when it isn't crowded.

Our Mascots Boomer and Sooner are new, sadly we've had quite a few mascots of the years...but we like these guys maybe they'll get to stick around!

Not many schools have a Heisman Park...but we do!

We are really ready to add an 8th date to our National Championships!

Last year we got our 3rd XII Championship in a row....hoping to make it 4 this year! As a Sooner Fan our first goal every year is to win the XII!!

We love L-O-V-E love our coach Bob! There isn't one coach in the whole world that I would trade him for! he is wonderful!

At some point every season Game Day makes it's way to one of our games and I like to be there front and center holding up my glittered signs!

This is my BFF and me at last years Big XII game we head to as many away games as possible I've been to almost all of the Big XII stadiums and I would love some day to have gone to all 120 (division 1) stadiums...to watch a game...but I'll have to start going to more than 3 a season! ha!(we are die hard fans, we don't leave early, and we don't try to out coach our coaches and we support the team no matter what!)

And last but certainly not least...I am so happy to say that our slingin' Sammy B will be playing against the Bears this weekend! I am so excited to see him back!

I realize this was a lot of pictures! If you made it to the end good for you! I really had to work hard to cut some pictures out!
I would have loved to gotten into the Red River Rivalry and the whining sɐxǝʇ fans but I'll save that for another post!

the not so friendly state.

Yesterday was one of those days.

I woke up without my alarm (because I didn't set it) on time. And thought to myself that it was going to be a good day....

I got ready and left the house, only to get a mile away and realize that I didn't have my phone, so I turned around to get it. Because really I just can't survive without it. When I got home I couldn't find it anywhere...so I went to find a house phone to call it, the first one I tried was not on it's dock and the second one had been knocked over so it was also not charging. Luckily we have one with a cord. Not so luckily this meant I had to call it and then run around the house trying to figure out what room it was in before my voice mail picked up. Eventually, I found it. (in my bed all covered up and snuggly warm.)

I got in my car and headed out again.

Only to not remember if I shut the garage door. To save myself the agony of thinking about it all day and getting home and wondering if a robber/murder went in and closed it and was waiting for me, I turned around and went back to make sure it was down. (it was)

I headed out for the third time and got further than I had all morning when my car was acting funny. And I couldn't accelerate at a normal speed, it was weird. The car behind me got pissed and passed me on the 2 lane road, and my car started shaking something awful. I thought for sure that my engine was going to fall out.

I pulled over and got out and looked UNDER my car (I was almost certain some vital piece of car had fallen out) I didn't see anything unusual. So, I walked around and saw it...

A Flat Tire.

Are you kidding me? It's been less than a month since my last flat tire?!?!

I know the drill, I got out got my spare tire, happy that nice guy from last time (did I blog about that? I should I have pictures) aired it up for me, and the jack and the lug nut loosener. I loosened the lug nuts, I learned you did this before you jack it up. It was amazing to me that I was able to loosen them. watch out I DO have upper body strength!

Then I looked at the jack and looked at the car. I have no idea how this thing works!

Why do I only get flat tires when I am wearing dresses and heels?

I proceeded to call every male I know, none of them answered, not the one that would know how to do it, not the one that could google how to do it, not the one that was closest in proximity to me. none of them.

8 men in pickup trucks passed me. 8! None stopped. none! I was starting to feel very overwhelmed last time the first car stopped. So, I sat on the ground and called Aunt Kay (who does not know how to use a jack and informed me that someone always stops and helps her) Finally, a nice man asked if I needed some help, I nodded my head yes (because really he looked like the type that would run in the other direction if I burst into tears, and I was getting pretty close)

He changed my tire with only a minor bit of drama (because really it wouldn't be me if there wasn't some bit of drama involved) and I was on the way to the tire store, where I got 3 new tires (seriously why didn't they tell me the first time I needed 3?!?!)

8 tucks didn't stop...that doesn't count the cars (I wasn't counting them) I had heels on! I thought Oklahomans were friendly?

The rest of my day was thankfully uneventful.

We went for a car ride that started out innocently enough

and then C wanted me to make one too.

Then C made one

And so did O. But, her's was too pretty!

so she did another one

and we couldn't stop the giggling!
